Leaving The Scene of an Accident

If you are issued a ticket for leaving the scene of the accident you may lose your driver's license permanently in the State of New Jersey.  Please seek legal counsel if you have been issued this ticket, please do not delay.  Here is some background on leaving the scene of the accident.  The current trend by the Legislature has been to view N.J.S.A. 39:4-129 as an extremely serious motor vehicle violation.  Amendments in recent years have dramatically increased the penalties for this violation, one of which includes a mandatory lifetime driver's license suspension.  In addition, the Legislature now permits indictment and criminal prosecution for persons who leave an accident scene in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-129 when either a death or serious bodily injury occurs.  Given the serious nature of this offense, it is essential that a person issued this ticket seek legal counsel.

Never knew that you could lose drivers license for a lifetime if leaving the scene of an accident. Many times people leave so that insurance does not get involved; however, thanks to your blog, leaving is the worst choice to make. Great legal advice!
